Gas Prices:

I am not too sure that we have a specific topic for this, (I searched and didn't quite find anything).

I figured we could give everyone a heads up on the prices around town.

Every once in a while I pull up Gas Buddy, and the cheapest I am seeing for regular is $3.59 at BJs in Auburn and B&A in Turner.

For super I see: B&A in Turner @ $3.79

I'm still higher than that in Alfred. Hovering in the $3.85 to $3.90 range. I want to be back down around $3.50. Standards are low right now!! lol $3.59 would be awesome right now!! I usually fill up in Exeter, NH where I work. It's $3.81 here right now.

I want it back down to $1.59.

I remember that's what it was two years ago when I lived in Portland...

That gas station up in Cooper's Mills is pretty cheap, comparatively. 3.60 or so.

I distinctly remember saying to a friend some years ago, "Once gas gets so expensive it costs more than $5 to fill-up the Beetle, I'm gonna quit driving and stick to my bike!"

FYI, old skool Beetle tank was 10 gals

It's relative though. Back when gas was $0.50 a gallon, min wage was probably $1.00. So everything has gone up.

I have a receipt where I paid .79/gallon in 1996 at some redneck gas station in Virginia somewhere... THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

Well when all of our oil is coming from the Middle East on ships it costs a lot to make that ship move. The container ship I am on right now carries enough fuel to run just the main engine for 45 days. A round trip from the Middle East takes 70 days from what I have been told. That is about 4500 metric tons of fuel. I am not sure what the cost of 1 ton of fuel is but I want to say its in the area of $600 a ton.

There are a few places, like twitchels airfield and the above mentioned location. At twitchels airfield it is ethanol free as well if I remember right.

I thought there was no 93 in Maine anymore.

I've been getting 91 at $4.07 a gallon btw.

The Citco in Sanford has been carring 93 for the last 1-1/2 years. They bring it in special and have signs saying we have 93 posted all over the station. I see all types of high performance cars fueling there. Last year while I was gasing up the guy in front of me had a SL65 AMG black series with a 661 hp v-12 tt. I said to him your 0-60 must be pretty quick and he said it`s not the 0-60 that impresses me it`s the 60-120. Now if I could jest hit Megbucks.
