a little late but better than never!!!

Heres my thoughts on this....traveling hundreds of miles out of state to watch a few people dyno seemed fun at first but not so much anymore. My idea for this year is simple...keep it in state... in a good public location.... that's free and family friendly!!!

Insert Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth.... anyone familiar with the Portland Headlight knows this park and its wide open spaces and awesome views of the ocean and tankers and whatnot coming into port. I checked it out this weekend with madam first lady and tribe of girls and seemed like itll work. They have a very large gazebo and field where we can do whatever, play games, run around, have fun. I spotted what looks like a baseball field in the distance, Marilyn suggested a kick ball game. Tennis courts and old buildings to explore as well as the light house itself.

I can reserve that area for 400 bucks...i don't want to though..its expensive, But with groups of 75 or less its free...i think we just get there early enough and take over the area. In the past i fed you...this year i cant afford to do it and i cant bring a grill in anyways. They do have small charcoal grills through out the park though so if you bring supplies you can use them. I suggest we all either bring a food item and have a giant pot luck or everyone just brings their own food. I could prob supply drinks and chips with ms funds but that's about the extent.

this is an excellent idea.

I think that everyone that goes should just bring food for themselves and any extra if they want to share. For an event like this, it would suck if no one brought food to a potluck.

I can bring a frisbee

One of the biggest reasons I didn't make it to last years annual meet was the distance. I really like this idea. Depending on my rotation and when this happens I will be there.

I agree on bring your own food. I would suggest a no alcohol rule if showing up as it is a public place.

As for renting the area, it looks like more then just $400 as they require insurance on top of the area use fee. From what I have heard annual meets can be pretty big(timing has yet to work out so I can make it). Biggest key is weather or not the park officials will see it as a group if over 75 people are hanging around. I did some research into renting an area as it would be nice, and offer to help with costs but from what I remember insurance for something like this isn't exactly cheap.

Researched it a bit. Apparently event insurance is common. https://www.theeventhelper.com even has plans for bingo event lol. Looks like our event would be about 100 dollars to insure through them. There are a ton of other companies that I didn't bother requesting a quote from too though.

The issue with the grills is they are scattered throughout the park. There isn't like 10 in that area we could use.

Says no open fires. I would assume it meant grills as well and I really don't want to haul my webber all the way down there and then up the hill to the gazebo
