Need some help - 2011 STi

Hope i'm posting this in the right spot:

My 2011 STi just threw the following codes:

P2442: secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open (bank 2)

P2443; secondary air injection system switching valve stuck closed (bank 2)

All I can really say is - HELLLLLLPP!!! What do I do? Can anybody point me in the right direction to fix this? Thanks for any info/advice.

Yeah.  Don't mean to scare you but this was a horror show for me....  Mine was all covered under warranty and for your sake, I hope you still have a warranty.

Generally..  You access this by removing the intercooler, turbo and all that piping.  Then crawl onto your engine and dip down in there to see it.  At least that's what I saw the Subaru tech doing at Evergreen.  ha

It is generally an easy fix parts wise.  Replace the trouble valve or one of the couple relays in the system.  The valves that get stick are temperamental and don't like moisture.  Replacing it usually fixes the problem.  The valves are not cheap.

I had my car at Evergreen for up to a month at a time while they tried to fix this.  Replaced everything in the system and it still did it.  Ended up being a gasket someplace in there that was dissrup[ting air flow to the valve causing the error.

If the valve is stuck closed, you are fine.  If its stuck open for any amount of time during long drives.  You can cause damage to parts in the engine bay.

Here is the link to my thread talking about it.  Quite a few members gave very helpful input here.  Don't mind a couple of my posts.  frustration probably showed through.  The final assessment is posted on the second page.

and yes.  You can buy a block off plate and rip the valve out completely.  Then, with a means of tuning, you can disable the code so it won't show up.  Maine doesn't really have systems in place to fail you for doing something like that during an inspection.  If it ever happens to me again and I'm out of warranty, that is what I will do.  I have seen quotes online from people saying they were billed everywhere from 1,500 to 3k to fix this crap.  All the system does it warm the cat up quicker during cold start ups to help minimize emissions.

Maaaaaannnnn... Not at all what I wanted to hear. So I went to service center today & my cars warranty expired in April (I have less than 36k miles). I passed inspection despite these issues (leaking steering rack too). I'm hitting up Meyagi to see if he can do the block off plate install & maybe a band aid tune before I can get to Bren in MA.

Darn.

Call up subaru of America and see if they will do a good will warranty for you. I thought emission related problems were 8 years 80k miles?

I think you are right.  At least in Maine (unsure if national) but emissions warranties go longer.  I would at least put up a little stink and try to get it covered if not through a dealer but directly through Subaru.  Something like that should not be going to crap at 36k.. Ridiculous, and its common.....
