So I was looking at motorcycle stuff and found something neat...

STS is very popular for the rear turbo kits.  I think they do a lot of kits for pickup trucks.  I think it has some benefits and what not, but that setup will never take off with the Subaru crowd.

I've seen this before too, I also think it was geared more towards the truck guys.   I just can't imagine how bad the lag would be...or how much efficiency you would loose due to the exhaust gasses having time to cool down.

On a V8 it might not be so bad (more thru-put volume), but it is never going to be as good as a traditional setup.

Closer to the head the turbo is, the better. That couldn't be farther unless they towed it behind the car on a trailer.

STS claims that the lag isn't all that bad in their setups. The one being shown is not an STS rear mounted turbo setup. That one does not have an intercooler and has a turbo that only needs water to cool it, STS uses a turbo that requires oil.

Someone didnt read very closely I see

Some reading material. He got an STS license to cover him as STS thinks they own a universal rear mounted turbo design patent.

I was intrigued by the design as a common problem with the BRZ platform once it is boosted is engine bay temps. This comes from both the added power and heat from the turbo being mounted between the engine and radiator, which is the most popular design. An oil cooler is usually effective at combating the heat.

The STS kit development.
