foreword:

picked up a second bugeye wrx for a good deal with the terms that it had a "broken manual trans". The car has 195k. starts and runs fine, go to put it in gear, let out the clutch pedal......nothing happens. all the gears are the same way. no noises, movement, chattering, etc.

i have since checked that all 4 axles are pushed fully into their differentials, which they are.

Got under the hood to check slave cylinder / clutch fork movement, looks normal to me.

drained trans to look for chunks / pieces / shavings , and found nothing out of the ordinary, fluid looked good.

so it comes down to the clutch right? is there any way i can inspect the clutch function without dropping the trans? Any other tests i can do to narrow it down to being a glassed/very broken clutch?

could the clutch fork be bent?

looking for some help before i undertake the trans drop/clutch replacement route.

I would just pull the boot off the clutch fork and look down in there with a flashlight while someone works the clutch
