prepurchase inspection advice

I hope to be buying a used Subaru Outback (my first Subaru) soon and pretty much everything I read about it suggests  having the car inspected by someone who knows what they are doing and are reliable.  I presently live in West Bath and was wondering if any of you have developed solid relationships with area mechanics familiar with Outbacks.

I always knew that the Subarus are the unofficial car of Maine but had no idea we had our own forum!

Thanks,  Denton

What year outback? There are certainly some specific things we can recommend to take a look at if you're willing to get on your knees and peek under the car. It's definitely a good idea to take it to a mechanic and get it up on a lift. Maybe someone else can chime in with a good place who will do that. The only Subaru shops I know down that way are Norms and Bath Subaru each of which would probably try and get you to buy one of their cars instead haha
