trying to "rebuild" a '93 Impreza tranny....

So, I've got my old tranny sitting in the basement, and I was toying around with the idea of repairing it. The only thing that is wrong with it is the shift from 1 to 2 is a "bit" noisy. The synchro is definately gone. Anyone ever attempt this?

I would like to do a auto to manual swap on my other Impreza this summer, and I was thining this would be the perfect opportunity to learn me something new.

So, where do i go to get replacement parts, and is there really specialized tools that I need to get/make?

I can offer up a shop manual when it comes in the mail. I'm not sure how detailed it is on tranny rebuilds.

Thanks, but I've got that part at least covered.

I've got all the parts of all the manuals up to '97

I used to do trannys all the time, never a subaru tho. I'll have to trek over there some time and help you. Most likely you'll need a press. With a shop manual it should be easy.

Yeah, I'll give you a shout when I'm ready to dive in. I just need to do a lot more organizing in the basement first....
