Who Runs Amsoil or Rotella T6?

Excellent point about filter life.  Use factory filters.  They're *almost* always the best built.  Napa flters are ok-ish, FRAM is by FAR the worst.  Bosch makes a good filter as well. source: I used to have to cut every filter open before scrapping them at the last shop I worked in. As far as...

    Turbo Upgrade

Neat. I don't have any experience with n/a block turbo 2.2s so I can't speak about what it will actually take. Guess my input is null and void! How much boost do you have to run to make that power? Any idea on current EGTs or AFRs? If it was mine, I would probably stick to being happy with...

    Turbo Upgrade

My torque curve comment is related to the TD04-19T.  The vf39 would be fine.  Folks run those all day long no issues.  Spool/power faster means more force on the rods/bearings.  Just saying that IMO it'd be risky without the right tune on stock internals.  Don't want that power slamming on. ...

    Turbo Upgrade

Might be fine. I would be concerned about that torque curve on an otherwise stock block if you plan to abuse it at all. Definitely will need a solid tune to be long-term reliable.

    Coolant leak, I think

Coolant flows down with gravity. If you can't see it from above, look at the area from below. Pics on the net won't help you.

Who Runs Amsoil or Rotella T6?

On a new motor I do 100mi on regular 5w30. Then change again at 1000mi with synthetic 5w30, and then resume normal intervals at the synthetic viscosity I want. We're not talking about 80s inline 6 jeep or mustang v8 clearances, we're dealing with very tight clearances and manufacturing...

    First Subaru Need Some Help

How do the cam journals look? Lots of times those are smoked and new heads/cams are needed. If they look ok, have the heads professionally cleaned. Replace anything else on the motor that touches oil, including the oil cooler. You don't want to do this twice.
