The one you posted a picture of is an 85-89 style. They made the same body up to 94. I have a couple of them but I don't think I could ever sell. But let me know if you find a decent one. Sadly, most of them are rusted away around here.
I'd consider talking to our vendor baxleys speed shop. He offers a some different options for tuning, including actual, which is many ways is better, and easier to use than an accessport, and is gives you a custom tune to your car.
It would have been left over from when I did the the sti intercooler on my xt and then swapped to an aftermarket one when I swapped the intake manifold.
Yes that knob, and it's not for the forester xt. Same as the 02-07 wrx/04+ sti one we just ordered for my sisters car for the new sti intercooler.

I have a 2" lift on my forester. No rear sway. It's mostly driven everyday to work and back and I can't tell the difference without a rear swaybar. And the forester is more top heavy than an Impreza. Like I said, unless you put a bigger one on, you won't notice a difference without the stock one...
The do fit bigger tires due to the higher spring perch, but the springs aren't as stiff as the 98-02 Forester rear springs. If you use those on the 03-08 struts, you'll gain a little more in the back. Not sure about the xt models being stiffer. But I'm sure the 03-08 struts have better valving...
