points of interest:

if an officer or a shop hassles you about your mods, but they're legal by these statues, tell em to get lost.

Section 170

for light transmittance.

(a) Any window tinting treatment or covering must be

removed if it fails to meet the inspection standard.

in the part about vehicle lighting and underbody lighting, i didn't see anythig about underglow.... (calls advance auto)

thanks for the sticky.

what do you mean by underglow? i only listed rule 6, which seemed most relevant to the board. from the name it sounds like it'd fall under the undercar lighting category, which has a rule of "dont use it on the street". check out the rest of that page.

would you believe I went through every section and read it...

a few years ago, I could not believe the hard time I am getting from gas sniffers with inspection licenses...are they trying to think? is my presence of a functioning brain too much to be friendly?

I have concluded, it is all common sense, basic knowledge (like a catalyst convertor necessary)

the rest is a hair across an inspectors ass.

and I did have a 74 chevelle with headlights way way below 22 inches...by factory build, (no mods)..and a delta88...thank goodness for "good 'ol boys" with inspection licenses, as long as its a gm, it is all good...

that car was so low, when it came back down from a four barrell, even on the highway, the aframe smashed the ground...

a little car doing this is some kind of evil.

I just don't get the bias.

Maybe there should be a boot camp for inspectors. a drill inspector getting their puny prodes out of the way, and perhaps real credentials written.

I just went to Neil's Motors here in Biddeford to try and get an exhaust cert. Without a silencer in my Megan Cat-back, I didn't pass of course. $35, O well. But I was very satisfied with the customer service and the atmosphere there. Almost every time I go into a auto shop, I have a bad experience. Bad service, suspicion of being screwed, just bad all-around. But Neil's seems to be an exception. The owner was nice and helpful, and it seems like he employs good techs. I am not sure how their rates are, but given how well I saw other customers being treated, I would not hesitate to take my business there.

So, are Subarus multipurpose? They're sure as heck used for "sport" and wagons are used for "utility," and I'm pretty sure they're vehicles too.

I guess this only matters for the rear side windows since there's that new thing about no limits on the opacity of the rear window as long as there are two side mirrors on the car.

I am not seeing anywhere in section 170 that say's an exhaust system must even have a cat, let alone have all the original cats that a car came with from the factory.

Did I just miss it?

If if has catalyst written on the emission label it must have one especially in cumberland county. but it is technically a bit flexible outside cumberland county though if you are registered there im sorry.
