I'm not rippin on Subie transmissions. I'm just saying that if you grew up driving Hondas and VWs, the switch to Subarus takes a couple days. Theres nothin wrong with Subaru transmissions, they're just different.

Ah good choice on the five speed. The difference between the manual and the auto is night and day, seriously. And around 650. Mainly I needed to take the car out to Connecticut for the holidays so I just needed it fixed. That and I read that some oil leaks in that area can ruin the clutch...

Yeah I would check the math / investigate the issue...on my 04 WRX I've never gotten below 23MPG average. Getting 20mpg would be sorta low. Getting like 16 is problem low. Getting 38mpg to florida seems beyond incredible, but then again it was probably all highway driving and stuff.
