Uzi carbine build

I've got a beltfed gun that hasn't been made for 2 years, and it's already worth $1000 more than I paid for it. I don't really understand the rest of your post.

Gun value is determined by the market, and availability.

Older guns are worth more usually because they are still in one piece and in working order after 100+ years.... unlike cars.

Are you doing a long barrel and sliding stock?
hahaha, ya, theres a lot of holes in it..

The barrel will be 16", and the stock will be the steel folding type. If you look at the pics near the top, you can see the original stock. Of course it's folded up in the pic, so it doesn't look like much.

I should be getting the rest of my parts tomorrow, at which point the pics will continue

Have you played with a sten parts kit yet? Ive read there is a new semi auto ATF legal bolt conversion,to make it non selective fire...Uzi is looking good,by the way. Im interested to see it completed.

thanks! I'm still waiting on some compliance parts... hopefully tomorrow.

I haven't done anything with sten's, though it's on my list.

My next build is probably going to be a ppsh-41, sbr(short barrel, like the originals..as they look goofy with a 16" barrel)

Got 95% of my parts today. Still waiting for a top cover and one part to weld into the shell. I'll post pics when I start mocking it up and welding.

I didn't realize how heavy these are... especially with the 16" barrel. I stuck some of the parts in the receiver and lifted it up and was amazed what it weighed.

Thank you! Currently I'm at $575, and that number shouldn't change.. I *think* I have everything I need now.

Buying one will range from $700-1200(semi auto)

lol Pedro.. luckily it's 9mm, and I've been stock piling it for years. so hopefully I can shoot for a while before I start feeling the pain of re-stocking

yeah I have a bit of restocking to do. It is surprising how fast you go through .223 with an AR.

Looks great. I really like the barrel shroud. Unique, functional, and way up there for the cool factor.

Ran into a snag. The receiver is twisted ever so slightly. It's my fault, as I checked it before welding and it was square. I might give it a quick twist to snap it back.. or might leave it alone. Not sure yet.

The top cover was not sitting flush. After some messing around, I found it was hitting the sling "bump" in the left side of the receiver. I decided to file the inside lip of the cover rather than modify the shell. It fits good now.

I also realized that I welded the grip frame lug a bit too far back and it is now making the stock not fit against the lug when collapsed. No big deal, as I can file a bit off the stock.. or the lug.

I ground the trunion welds, but not too much.. as it will sacrifice structural integrity.

I put a chamfer on the edges of the back plate to give me some room to pile up filler material while welding.

Almost done! Need to strip the lower and refinish it, as well as the barrel shroud.

I used Krylon BBQ paint, works well, but it's a bit shiny. I might strip it and use something else.

Going to shoot it tomorrow.
