05 WRX wag: hot day, heavy traffic on I-495. fast traffic, then stop n go for half hour, car is getting hotter n hotter

suddenly, it's NOT idling down...first it's 2500, then 3500, then 5000. yow! shut car off. hard to restart, but it idles down a bit, to say 2000. soon it's not idling down again, shut off cruise and car is still going 75.

so I pull over to check under hood...and of course it's idling fine. back on road no issues since.

wtf??!!

PS--a firend called today, he had exact same issue with an 02 WRX a couple days ago.

is this common, rare, service bulletin, recall material, or what?

no idea.. no sticky cables or anything? I would spray some PB blaster in the throttle cable just in case. or maybe the Cruise cable.

I read it, never heard of nuttin'

Axed around: nuttin'

I checked bulletins: nuttin

Possible crack in the turbo inlet tube? That could make it come and go as the tube flexes a little.

I kept quiet cause I really didn't have anything worth while to contrubute. I'd try wiggleing the inlet tube while the car is running. How is it now? Better/worse/same?
