Spun road bearings mean that there's lots of flakes of blown bearing floating all thru the motor. best to really really clean out the oilways while u got it torn down. Replace oil pump. flush out heads and valvetrain. flush again. hard to get all the crap out of oil pan, probly best to replace...

if you plan to keep the car, go ahead and do the new longblock. if you really want a different car, drop in a used motor, drive a while and then sell it on and get what you really want. resale with a new longblock is not going to be that much higher to "pay for" the new motor job.

trick question: do you have a manual showing what parts go where in relation to each other.  agree with above post, spring adjuster appears flipped in your earlier pics. if that don't work lay a big ole hex on it. if that don't work, try a lighter...under the fuel tank. Or lit match down fuel...

double-check the drum size on new rotors vs old ones. make sure the shoes are square to axle, if they're even a little bit crooked it'll seem like drums won't fit over the shoes. and make sure the fork thingie with the blue spring between the shoes is oriented right. I had one fork with a bent...
