The Sebrings can be had really cheaply too, might go that route.  They seem to be more reliable than the saabs I guess.  Miatas are just out of price range.  That one is a perfect example, 25 year old car with 90hp for 4 grand?  no thanks

I used to have an Impreza and I skipped 4th gear for 2 years of driving it because of the same reason.  3rd gear is a little more important tho I think

My gf and I want to get a convertible this summer.  Cheaper the better since its just for fun and its our 4th car lol.  Last year we looked at Mustangs, Saabs, sunfires etc but never found anything worthwhile really.  All the Saabs seemed like total POSs... Prefer automatic.  I think maybe v6...
