    Yup- Mike's got it. I would suspect you've worn out the front chain ring as well, given how you describe this. Most cranksets come apart so you can only replace the worn ring. I'd have a shop do it.

    You can get them at most local shops. Mine came from Bath Cycle. They're pretty pricey, but they last forever. Link They were great this weekend on the icy trails by the presumscott river.

    $80 is pretty steep for a 5K. Wish they had more detail on what the event actually was, aside from muddy. I'd do it with some MSers if we could get Evergreen to sponsor half the entry fee....
