The Official MS Bike Talk Thread - motors need not apply

So it sounds like there's a story here... do tell!! Mountain bike? 8 or 9 speed? I've always had good luck with the SRAM 970 cassettes. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive. For the chain, go with a SRAM PC951. That's assuming you're running 9 speed stuff. More expensive stuff =...

proof of citizenship to renew a maine DL?! WTF. Rant Warning

According to the website... you need 2 documents... So it comes down to passport or birth cert again. I'm just gonna roll with it. Hopefully my passport will arrive closer to the 4wk processing time rather than the 6wk. Once I have the passport... I'm all set for the next 10 years. My wife...

proof of citizenship to renew a maine DL?! WTF. Rant Warning

I can't use my current passport because it's expired... has to be a valid ID. I think I'm going to just wait for the new passport to arrive and then go renew. I'll be expired for about a month though... EEch...

proof of citizenship to renew a maine DL?! WTF. Rant Warning

So as I'm at the post office getting the stuff to renew my passport which expired last year, I realize my drivers license is about to expire. The Post Office lady said that I'd need 'proof of citizenship' to renew it. So I looked it up online thinking that was a bunch of crap. Turns out, you...

    Spotted!

Spotted Lawdawg in the Mill Creek shopping area on Sunday morning. Also spotted my old Prodrive P7's that I sold to another member about 4 years ago at the VIP in Mill Creek... still on their blue WRX wagon.

That's a beautiful area... how were the hills? I've been looking for a place to go ride with the kids (in a trailer).

NICE!!! I looked for a HotWalk and couldn't find one. We ended up getting a Strider balance bike free when we bought the Chariot double stroller. I prefer the Hotwalk due to the real tires... the Strider has plastic tires. My son digs it, daughter was already on a bike w/ training wheels so...

hahaha! I had an invite last year to head to Sunday River to ride the downhill. Umm... no thanks. I rode Clifford Park in Saco last nite... yeeeowwww! Technical rocky death defying... I've become so accustomed to riding Bradbury, SoPo/Cape, Rivertrail, etc that riding technical stuff was...

I'm thinking about replacing my wheelset on the road bike... anyone interested in a lightly used set of Mavic Aksium road wheels? They're used but not abused. I don't race on 'em, beat 'em, etc. I just ride. Probably looking to get in the $175 range for the pair.

Never been to Millstone. With the kids, it's hard to take a whole day to go mountain biking. I looked at the race there and it looks pretty good... but still, it's a bit of a haul.

The GBS ride was FAST. Not a whole lot of stopping & gabbing. Just riding. There's and A & B group so if you don't want to haul through the woods you can jump on the B group. I don't believe they've posted a map for the CVCC race yet. Not sure they will since they're getting...

They're just really big mountain bike tires. 26"x3.8". Primarily designed as a snow bike & sand bike, it chews up the trail. Only downside (other than the weight) is that the Surly Larry tires kinda suck on mud. Need the Surly Endomorph tire. The Gorham Bike & Ski wednesday night...

I've been biking off and on... 2 kids, work, etc makes it a wee bit difficult to squeeze in a ride. Finally got the road bike out this past weekend too. For races... anyone doing the Carrabasset Valley Cycling Challenge? 25 & 50 miles options at the end of July. Also, the Bradbury 12 is...

What are you going to do now that gas prices have jumped over $1.50/gal in the last 3 weeks?

I've been popping out of gear on downhills and coasting when possible. Not huge, but then again I don't drive a whole lot anyway. I need to get the snowtires off... that'll get me some MPGs.
