Ray Goslins Shop, Bomarc Industrial Park Bangor, Two Thumbs Up

Tried to get a sticker on my wife's 01 Outback today. The shop that looked at it didn't want to sticker it because it has the usual exhaust flange leaks. Since I didn't want to buy a new exhaust (both flanges were pretty much gone) I headed to Advanced to find something to rig it to get it...

    ball joint remover

Vecken you're in Porland so it doesn't help that I have a tool for that. Only 5 min of work to remove it from the control arm. Now the pinch bolt is another story, soak that thing overnight, or more. I pulled off my entire knuckle and soaked the bolt in a tuna can full of pb blaster. What...

Review of Mike's Car Service, Old Town Maine. Dont Use Them...

I was reviewing a shop. I don't feel like I was slandering anyone. Nothing I said was untrue. Either way I've done what I wanted to do, which is let people know my story. I'm all set from here.

    '05 Outback strut options?

Damn, didn't know you could do that with the Baja springs... The new springs on my 01 "lifted" it back up to where it should have been. It went up almost an inch over the 130k mile original springs. Now I ride around noticing all the saggy Outbacks on the road.

looking for a mechanics around Old town

That 86 4runner out front is mint looking. I've been wanting to stop in and see it. They also had a 01 Legacy in there for sale recently. Depending on what it is you need Crawfords is right up the road. I used to have them work on my Tacoma back in college. They always did right by me. My...

looking for a mechanics around Old town

Those guys always have VWs out front. They seem to do a lot of work at times but then sometimes I'll drive by and think they've gone out of business. I'm from Bradley and don't know the guy, nor have I heard anything about them. Sorry. Someone on another thread recommended Jackson's (main...

Review of Mike's Car Service, Old Town Maine. Dont Use Them...

Yeah well he accomplished one goal, I won't ever go there again. I appreciate your opinions about the parts but if what you're both saying is true then it's just total bullshit. If you work at a ski shop and someone brings in skis they didn't buy there you don't say, "no man I can't mount...

Review of Mike's Car Service, Old Town Maine. Dont Use Them...

Jacksons is Right on Main St, just down the road from this shop actually. And I agree with HR Radness, I find most businesses in Maine severely lacking in customer service.

    '05 Outback strut options?

I just replaced the OEM springs and struts on my wife's 01 Outback at 125k. I went back to new OEM springs because I've always found that gen of OB ride to my liking but I put on the KYBs (GR2s?) which did stiffen the ride up significantly over the old OEM struts. Overall I think it's plenty...

    Parting out my '99 OBS

I texted her with questions, she said she isn't on here much. Replied to text quick though.

Review of Mike's Car Service, Old Town Maine. Dont Use Them...

Yeah I'm basically upset by the fact that I (customer) asked for a particular thing and it wasn't done. Now if they had charged me the same and done it I would have been tickled about it. Probably would have given them a tip actually. I don't mind spending money on a service but it's gotta be...

Review of Mike's Car Service, Old Town Maine. Dont Use Them...

Well I haven't had a chance to get underneath the car yet. The bearing isn't humming or anything, so that is good. Besides that how would I tell? Yeah the whole parts thing is typical BS though. I only go to a mechanic when I can't get something done. That usually means I've alredy got...

Review of Mike's Car Service, Old Town Maine. Dont Use Them...

I dropped off my 00 Impreza at 8:15am at Mikes Car Service in Old Town, Maine. I told them they could have the car for the day, they were to rr the passenger rear wheel bearing. I asked that since they were pulling the knuckle to do the wheel bearing rr if they could install a new backing...

Impreza wheel bearing job a bust

How much can you really hammer on them? Also for future reference should you leave like the lateral link bolt in and loose, and one of the strut bolts in and loose, then hammer on the cv? I was really concerned about using the hub remover because I was really putting a lot of pressure on the...

passenger side corner window 00 Impreza L

Yeah they just called back, got one for 40 bucks! That solves that problem at least! Thanks, we can put this to bed.

Impreza wheel bearing job a bust

Yeah I had it all the way down to just the axle holding it on. I have all the other bolts loose. Does the axle just attached inside the diff with a spring clip? I was afraid to really crank on that puller because I didn't want to frig up my diff. I'm sure damage could be done on those...

passenger side corner window 00 Impreza L

I need the rear corner window for my impreza. Without going into detail I blew the old one out. Does anybody have a parts car they want to remove one of these from? I'm in Old Town but am heading to Brunswick this weekend, could pick up anywhere between here and there, maybe further. Thanks

Impreza wheel bearing job a bust

I got everything unbolted and it came down to the CV joint. It was stuck in the hub so I rented a hub remover and it wouldn't even budge it. I was worried I was going to mess up the axle or the differential torquing on it so hard. So that job isn't worth the time and effort. I spent three...
