looking for a 2.2 engine and a clutch

What I thought might make sense was for you to give a ballpark and I can say yes or no, based on the price and effort to remove the motor and all. If we are close enough, you can come and inspect the motor in the vehicle, then we could negotiate a specific price. Does that sound fair? If you...

looking for a 2.2 engine and a clutch

Not certain, approximately 160k. I have not looked at it closely, my guess is it needs to be resealed but that should be easy with the motor on a stand!

looking for a 2.2 engine and a clutch

I have a EJ22 in my 1998 Forester that I installed after a head gasket failure on the stock EJ251. It is currently in the car and running fine, but the car has gotten too rusty for inspection. What sort of budget do you have for the motor itself? If the price was right, you could come see the...

    Bad Gearbox????

Because the WRX is very affordable, and that means there are a lot of damn fools doing all wheel peelouts after watching WRC... The bottom line is that your in Subaru land here, and so yeah, your gonna get some push back when you say Subies are junk. Any car that's been beaten is junk...

    Bad Gearbox????

There are only a few typical reasons why *any* MT fails. I know and admit why mine failed, now admit yours... lol I'm sure you had/have a number of hairline fissures in your gears, suggesting the same failure reason as mine. Too many drag races, donuts, peeling out in dirt only to hit pavement...

    Bad Gearbox????

its called enforced maintainence, and you will notice it in the wheelwells of your cars soon. I had to rebuild the tranny for probably the same reason you did, high rev shifts, clutch drops, etc.

    Bad Gearbox????

I'm sure you can fill in the blank with any manufacturer and have your statment be true to someone. I have a WRX with 177,000 someodd miles, on a tranny I rebuilt myself 10,000 miles ago. A 2.0l turbo engine with 177k, yeah sounds like Subaru is complete bunk to me... YMMV, all the usual...

    Bad Gearbox????

Too bad its too late, as I could have helped you rebuild the tranny. Speaking from personal experience, DIY tranny rebuilds are not that hard at all. 2.5 hrs - tranny removal and reinstallation 3 hrs - tranny case breakdown and bearing pressing 1.5 hrs - dicking around in the garage an...

    Lug nuts...

Not at all, never used nor seen the benefit of lightweight lug nuts. I would lighten plenty of other things before the lugs P.S. Im such a lazy bastard I had completely forgotten about shipping that service manual out. I am out of the office Wednesday and Thursday but will pop that in the mail...

    Lug nuts...

Our cars carry the weight on the center of the rim, not the studs. The lug nuts are there to keep the wheel flat against the rotor face.

    Utec on stock WRX

If your interested, you can take my rex for a spin and check out the rear sway. I have mine set very stiff and it made a HUGE difference! Just need to lift the rear end a little, doesn't want to oversteer enough for my taste, but I'm still learning the new setup. Kathy: My snows are studded...

    Utec on stock WRX

I make no claims as to having solved the problem Previous post edited to reflect The new tranny really set back my allowance or I would show you how this Mainer plays in the dirt.
