2005 wrx exhaust

a buddy of mine is looking to get an exhaust system for his 05 wrx, just looking for any recommendations on if he should just get a cat back, a full set, or what. hes on somewhat of a budget of about 300-500.

hes also got a set of 16" steel wheels with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

any insight will be helpful for him
