Ok so My girlfriend got me two Kenwood 10" subs 1000 peak/300rms 4-ohms.. Now I need to buy an amp, and need some advice because I can't figure some stuff out. The box my oldman got me for Christmas has a pos/neg hook ups on the outside for each sub..

Mono or 2-channel? Mono I would have to run in parallel right? Would a two channel allow me to occupie each of the pos/neg hookups on the box?

Also what wattage should I get for an amp?

Are the subs DVC (dual voice coil)? If so they will have 2 positives and 2 negatives for each sub. If not only 1 set. If they are dual 4 ohm you can only produce a final ohm load of 1 or 4 ohms. To get 1 ohm parallel each voice coil on each woofer then parallel the speaker terminals so you end up with one negative and one positive. To get 4 ohm load series each set of voice coils then parallel the speaker terminals. series will get you 8 ohms at each woofer then the parallel cuts it to 4 at the amp.

If they are single 4 ohm (ideal) Simply parallel them straight across the board.

You will get the most power at 1 ohm, but you will have to invest the money into an amp that is 1 ohm stable. This can be very costly. The best scenario is a final ohm load of 2 ohms. There are plenty of amps out there that produce plenty of power at 2 ohms for not much money. Crutchfield actually just reduced the price on the Boston accoustics GT series amp that is 800x1 at 2 ohms. Its only like $220 Hope this helps!
