I'm a hack
so as some of you know i have the sti 6mt in my wagon, but not the sti R180 lsd diff.
There are a few ways to go about making it work, custom $1k+ rear axles to go from the R180 to the stock R160 hubs, or swap the hubs to sti and use sti axles, which opens up another set of problems....
1 the sti backing plates only accept the red 2 pot calipers or the Brembos, neither of which i have.
2 the sti backing plate has a 190mm ebrake dia. vs legacy/wrx which is 170mm
the group N gravel spec rotors are the almost perfect solution, they have the correct 190mm ebrake dia, and the outer dia for the red 2 pots, or the 05+ LGT rear calipers (which i have)
HOWEVER. They are $250 for a pair, and my calipers still wont bolt to the sti backing plates.
So, that means im up the creek and gotta buy rear sti brembos and rotors, or group N gravel rear rotors and red 2 pots..... Not if i can help it....
after some research i think ive found a cheap and viable solution. The subaru tribeca uses a vented rear rotor with a 12.5" dia and a 190mm ebrake. My LGT rear rotors are the same thickness, but with a 11.4" diameter. The plan is to get the tribeca rotors (cheap like 40 bucks ea ) and redrill them to 5x100, and then machine the outer dia down a 1/4" or so, and make a couple adapter brackets to run my LGT calipers on the sti backing plates. when its all said and done ill have bigger rear rotors then i do now and the sti lsd rear dif.... upgrades all around! ill take some pics once i got the tribeca rotors and start cutting them up haha
