I need a project!

I'm looking for a winter time project besides the Subaru. Anyone have or know someone that has a cheap motorcycle project they can't finish. I'm very much into british bikes and would love to find an old triumph or BSA.

Or if anyone knows of any bike junkyards in the maine or NH area. I'm in southern ME/Kennebunk area.

Think more "bike in boxes" than "dealer showroom".

Thnx

I haven't been watching CL for bikes lately, but if you pm me your email I would be happy to email you any bikes I see that I think are good projects for a good price.

Last year I bought and sold four or five different bikes. The best deal was this '77 CB550 that I bought for $200 and sold for $1000 after a little work.

I know the older bikes (80's and before) fairly well, but I personally only look for Honda's and Kawasaki's. The Harley's and Triumphs cost to much to buy initially and parts are worse. So I stick with jap bikes. Honda's are bullet-proof and my first bike was a Kawi, so I am partial. The only Yamaha or Suzuki I would consider buying is an XS1100, all the rest are not as good as their Honda counterparts.

There is one good source for parts and junk bikes that I know of. The bike barn, Maine Cycle Salvage in LA. It's next to Maine Oxy, behind the New England School of Metalwork. They are a bunch of crooks and I hate their guts, but if you are buying something you are familiar with, its a good source.

I'd be happy to sell you my finished project, but I don't have any bikes that need work right now. Something else has taken my focus.
