Well today I had the privilege of buffing out Jamey's obp impreza. I shall use Jamey's car as a fine example of taking out fine swirl marks. My dad and I do own a detailing shop, which I will not name since I am not a vendor(I hope to become one eventually). I do enjoy helping others in getting their cars looking sharp(I hope this helps ya out a little joe). Anyways Jamey's car was littered with fine swirls from a touch car wash. These types of car washes are terrible for our cars. Touch less washes and good ol' hand wash/ soft bristle brush is the way to go. The worst areas were the hood/rear quarters/trunk.
I used a porter cable d/a polisher (just like yours Joe)
self centered heavy cut pad
self centered polishing pad
megs 105 cutting compound
megs 205 compound
black light hybrid sealant/wax
microfiber towels
chemical guys premium wash
I tried to use the megs 205 with the polishing pad all the way around but the hood/trunk were bad. I had to use the megs 105 with the heavy cut pad to remove most of the swirls and scratches then used the megs 205 to removes the swirl marks the heavy cut pad left. After this, the whole car was sealed/waxed. Wheels and rally armor flaps cleaned out. Finally tires were dressed and windows cleaned. Below is the finished product.
If anyone needs any advice at anytime with detailing just shoot me a pm, again I don't mind sharing my knowledge and product info.
