New outback sport has less hp than base impreza?!?!

165 for outback sport and i think 175 for base impreza?

Ie "offroad package" gets less hp

any one know why?

is it a lighter engine.

the torq # are both the same i belive but i could be wrong

the 97 had 130 hp (maybe it was 127, not completely positive). I used to rock the H-stock in the auto-xes and quite often did well with my OBS. Don't knock the 2.2L. I beat the living bageezus out of ours and it only had one issue the entire 130,000 miles my wife and I put on it. On the passenger side head there is a block off plate that leaked oil. A $2 o-ring fixed it. I smoked the clutch at around 100,ooo when trying to tow my Rx7 up the driveway. I did the first ever tune-up/services at 120,ooo miles. Plugs, wires, t-belt, gear oil changes, it was still going great when SUbaru lured me into the WRX, bastards.
