Photography...

I tried searching for a photography thread and couldn't find one. If there is, keep in mind that I ride the short bus...

Some pics I took today on our adventure in the Washington Valley:

First off all, good pictures OP.

Photography is a touchy subject. Some people post pictures and just want people to say "hey I like your pictures". If that's the case, deviant art and flickr are where you want to go. If you want to dig deeper, get constructive criticism, and actually grow your skills, I would avoid those communities as all they do is pat each other on the back about their mediocre images.

My sister does the photography thing as a hobby and shoots a lot of the autocross, rallycross, and stage rally events she can make it to. Here are the resources she suggests pouring through. Her portfolio is here: http://angelafouquette.viewbook.com/

Best site ever for camera reviews and comparisons. They have things like comparing P&S's, underwater, blah blah blah. The forums are absolutely terrible.

Really great reads and tips and whatnot, good for getting inspiration. Never looked at the forums (they aren't working I just checked now)

This is my "alma matter," where all my internet buddies roam, they are great guys, and they are all getting into photography now so they give good tips and know their POOP. But it is still pretty noob. But it is a "good community."

My buddy Nick, he made my logo, here is his blog with lots of good tips:

and his portfolio:

My flickr:

(flickr is good for sharing photos because it is free until you have a POOP ton of pics)

And of course, something awful. Here are links to the major awesome megathreads:

That's a whole pile of stuff to pour through if you want to see how deep the photography rabbit hole goes...

She doesn't check mainely ever, just has an account to post pics from events, but if you PM'd her images and asked for critiques, she'd probably be cool with it.

Here's my Picasa, where I borrow her camera and shoot the group drives. I tend to opt for the quantity over quality option unlike her...

Photography is a great hobby that has infinite depths for learning and creativity.
