What wheels?

I'm thinking of getting a set of wheels to put summer/all-seasons on and putting winters on my steelies.

I don't really like the look of WRX wheels on GC OBSes. BBS wheels would be sick but they're out of my price range. RS 6-spokers would be ok.

What can I find for cheap, new or used?

I saw a set of WRX wheels for $200 so I'm sort of aiming around there.

your OBS came with 15" wheels, correct? to put snows on the stock steelies, go with 195/65-15s, these will be almost exactly the stock diameter and be really good for winter.

RS 6-spokers would be schweet. they are 16 x 7, a half inch wider than early WRX take-off wheels. Get some 225/50-16 allseason/summer tires, mmm good. this setup is exactly same diameter as 205/55/-16, only fatter and funner. besides that, they look Phat.

I'll go measure them now

Did he ever try the handbrake?

edit: they only come in a 195/60, not a /65. That means they're .5" skinnier, right (I can never remember which number means what)? I'll double check some time between today and tomorrow how wide my wheels are, but I really want to know what the numbers mean

the first number is the tread width, 195mm (about 8 inches).

the second number is the sidewall height, which is a percentage of the width. 60% of 195 is about 120mm, or 4.75".

the last number is the rim diameter.

add up the rim diameter and two of the sidewall heights to get your overall height, something to keep close to stock for your speedo's sake.

late 90's legacy gt wheels are nice too.

I do like those GT wheels

So the first number is like the width of the tire/wheel? 195 would be about 7.5," 205 would be about 8.

So what's the wheel diameter? ~25"?

Skinnier tires are better in the snow anyway, the wider they are the more then tend to act like a plow, so that size is probably better.

Nate, here's some schoolin on tires sizes:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=46

the 195/60-15 size of the winterforces will be a bit smalleer diameter than your stock size, it'll cost you ground clearance and make the speedo read 5-10% fast.

195/65-15 is the size tire you want. if winterforces don't come in that size, then winterforce is not yer tires, ok?

crap, I forgot to check... Anyway, I assume they're 7.5" wide.
what's this "assume" business?

wheel size is stamped on the rimsomeplace, as in 15x7JJ or such like. first number is rim diameter, second number is wheel width, the letters are code for stuff you don''t need to worry about.

hehe, got it. I was just too lazy to go outside from school and check because I forgot this morning.
