Yesterday I got the urge to clean up my headlights a bit. I can say I'm quite pleased with the results.

Bought the Rain-X headlight restore kit:

the snowflake of DOOOOOOOOOOOOM

- How do I go about getting the oxidation off the aluminum???

As you may know aluminum oxidizes almost as it is cut. The only way to really get rid of it to my knowledge would be to get a polishing compound then clear coat them as soon as you get it clean. It looks like your clear coat is gone. When you have wheels which have lines in them through the clear coat its called worming. Basically the start to disappearing clear coat.

Thanks guys! I only want to hit the "raw" aluminum and save the gold since its in good shape.

and yes on some of the aluminum the clear coat is gone.
