i've got a similar problem on my 02 wrx, but with a high idle. i've tried cleanin the maf sensor, cleaning the idle air control valve, adjusting the throttle and cruise control cable, and anythin else people here have suggested. none have helped me, but you could try those 3 things for starters.

+1 on what Trevor723 said. Be clean, and watch the dust and scrapings. your upper TGV gaskets have bevels that compress when you tighten it to the manifold, I don't know if you can use them twice, so just be careful and pay attention the first time. Everyone else has pretty much summed it up...

So, I've got my map loaded that I want to flash onto my car, but when I tell ecuflash to flash it onto my car it gets half done and says there's a problem. the tune is an xpt stage 2 wit launch control if that helps.

The stock bypass valve won't run any risk of Surges? Would a 50/50 blow off valve like a GFB be better off than stock or not. I've been reading all sorts of mixed things.

I've cleaned the MAF, and the battery was out for about a month while I was building my motor. I didn't do many serous internal mods. Just rod bearings, rings, and head gaskets. I have a full catless system now though, and I'm thinking that is the culprit.

It's an 02 wrx. It started happening after i removed the cat in my downpipe but still had the 3 cat's in my manifold/up pipe. I've since used wire ties to seal all the vacuum lines when I did y build.
