I'm flashing my 02 wrx with a stage 2 xpt tune. i have my stock bypass valve, and greddy type rs full atmosphere blow off valve. will i risk spikes and overboost if i use the stock bypass. will the full atmosphere screw with my tune. Keep in mind I have the stock boost control soninoid, as a more reliable one isn't needed with this tune. Or should I get a 50/50 BOV. Any information would be great. Thanks.

Never tried, so everyone please correct me if I am wrong, but the later models 06 and up need the recirculation. You have to get at least a 50/50 or risk destroying your engine.

you're not going to blow up your motor from having a blow off valve. But your going to run into running rich between shifts, stalling issues, and plain old running like crap.

I would say with going with only a stage 2 tune from XPT, they best idea would be stay with your stocker. Braden from XPT really designs his maps to work with ONLY what he calls for your parts. Dont deviate from his list or you run the risk of it not running like it should.

Not to mention your stocker (metal BPV) is good to go for what you are running. The leggy and 08+ guys run a weaker plastic unit that's been proven to crap out anywhere in the 20psi range. I will eventually be replacing mine. But keep in mind i will bestaying with a fully recirculating.

The stock bypass valve won't run any risk of Surges? Would a 50/50 blow off valve like a GFB be better off than stock or not. I've been reading all sorts of mixed things.

surges? on a stage 2 tune on stock td04? Nah you're all set.

Im sure you can run a 50/50, but unless you tweak your tune for it, its not really gonna like it that much. Especially since your running an off the shelf map that not meant to be run with one.

you won't experience stalling etc... as long as you tune the BOV itself right (spring and adjustment) and make sure it's not leaking. you will just blow some extra fuel by at shifts, so if you have a cat i wouldn't recommend it. really they're just noisemakers unless you're running a crazy huge turbo.
