'08 OBS Wierdness

So my fiance bought an 08 OBS Lease trade in about 3 weeks ago with 18,000 miles on it. It does this wierd thing though. If you pull up to a stop sign, or a parking spot for that matter, when you depress the clutch to coast the last couple of feet before full stop, the engine rev's itself up to 2500 or 3000 rpm for about 3 or four seconds before dropping back to idle. Anyone know anything about this? it really got be puzzled.

It sounds like an idle hang. My car did it too till I do a good tune on the car.

Try running some fuel system cleaner through it, and cleaning the MAF sensor. Might help with some idle issues.

The problem is its not hanging, it jumping up. I can take my foot off the gas, coast, depress the clutch and it will spool up....

Well OBS don't "spool". But that's exactly what mine did.

Does it go up, hang there a bit, then come down to a normal idle? Try doing some cleaning as a quick fix. Its cheap.

I remember krazykarpenter talking about something like that on his car. Evergreen ****ed with his ECU to stop it. Might want to give the service desk a call.

krazy, is this true, and if so did they give you an explanation? after trolling the www, Ive found a lot of people having this problem.

There might be a factory reflash for that. When I get back to Evergreenland I'll check for you Monday.

When my mom had the '06 it did something like this. A reflash from the dealer took care of it. Then with her '08 it was having a strange issue with idle. It would sometimes idle at 2k rpms when she came to a stop. Then with a blip of the gas it would drop down to where it should be. She got a reflash from the dealer and it was fine after that. Then I think it had to get another flash, something to do with cat efficiency or something. There was a TSB about it a while ago.

My 08 Fozzy 5 speed did the same. Inski did a reflash under warranty. problem solved. You have the exact same engine trans setup as I do. It is just a software issue. Evergreen will take great care of you.

i too might have to look into this, my car sometimes holds the engine at about 4k rpm when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. ive also had it hold the rpm when the traction control kicks in. has anyone here ever had the dealer flash the ecu in a way that made the car idle slightly higher? when my car is fully warmed up it idles lower than i like, and was curious if it has been changed before.

edit: I'd also like to add that i have nearly 18k miles on mine so far in just 7 months of owning it. its never acted any different since day 1.
