2010 Team O'Neil Rally

Right, got the final tally of parts...I have a lot of outstanding IOUs now...bah.

Brake rotors and pads, both sides

Right upper and lower ball joints

Right front axle u-joint

Right front unit bearing/hub assembly (I blame Craig for that one)

I owe my father a lot of money now as he picked up all the parts, knowing that I have no money.

I like to get the most use out of my rotors as I can.

Holy crap... more like the most use out of your pads as you can. Is that gouge in the left one from the metal backing plate of the bad scraping the rotor?

That's just what was left of the rotor surface, the rest had already rusted away and couldn't touch the pad anymore.

Here's mine:

We may have had a bit of an "off" during our "spank me" ride. It was awesome. I can now cross "crash rally car" off the bucket list.

yeah, Al is not too happy with himself at this point. Note to everyone, 10 days of instructing with NO day's off is bad for your exhaustion/concentration levels. Jim, hope you enjoyed what you got for a ride!

I sure did - and I'm sorry he broke his car. He'll be okay to run on Saturday, though - right?

Unfortunately, I don't think that is in the cards. After you snapped that photo, Al, Joe and I pulled the skid plate off. It took a big hit dead center which crushed the oil pan and bent the engine crossmember pretty badly. It looked like the front end was going to have to be completely pulled apart and replace that whole crossmember assembly to set things right.

BTW, anyone have a 1999 - 2001 Impreza RS front crossmember that they want to sell?

well here's the plan. that is all that appears to be wrong with it, the doors now work (thanks to the resident BFH). I am ordering up a cross member and oil pan tomorrow, crossing fingers, we will get it installed this week and if she runs, we're gonna runner'

Glad to hear you guys got a working plan and that running is in the cards. On the way back Rob and I were talking about it, and we were worrying the cage may have been tweaked, glad to hear that that is NOT the case and there is hope of a super sweet RS runnin' Team O.

I take it things are quiet at the school this week? Let me know if you need an extra set of hands. I can take Thursday off and come up to help out if needed.

replacement bits obtained, let the rebuild begin

rallycat, no negative talk, dood! one must ALWAYS rebuild overnite to get back in de rally. Heck, I hit a tree one day before the Team O rally a couple years ago, took out hood, radiator, headlight, cam cover and skidplate. The Rez bros pitched in (with parts acavenged off wrecks down back of the skchol0 and Tulip was ready to pass tech the next morning. (of course they worked all night, but hey)

I know, I know. I've even lived through the experience with that very car at STPR a couple of years ago. Tweaked the frame horn, radiator mounts, and cracked the oil pan on stage 1. Several enthusiatic Mainers (including one of the aforementioned Rez Bros on site and the other on the phone) managed to pull the oil pan, replace it and get things bolted back together enough to finish all the stages the next day. All in a grass parking lot at night with nothing but hand tools.
