98 Impreza spent clutch?

Well, my son in law let someone borrow his car today (98 Impreza) and I think he smoked the clutch. The guy told him he knew how to drive a stick, but he also said that the car smelled funny when he took it from the driveway. All I know is when I went to check it out for him (the car won't move in gear) I could smell clutch 3 cars away. Doesn't look good

Had it towed for him with my AAA membership to a relative's house (who is a pretty good mechanic that is currently unemployed) and he should be able to start on it Monday. The guy who borrowed it swears up & down he didn't beat on it, and has even offered to help pay

Supposedly this clutch is only two years old, and I have never noticed an odor before. Is there anything that may have failed that would cause this ?

Or more than likely the guy rode the clutch for 2 or 3 miles and fried it ? Anyway, what should be replaced along with the clutch?

Thanks for any advice

One thing i learned is not to let anyone borrow my car, unless i'm in it

And i learned it the hard way.

Clutch is a half-day/day job, might as well change rear oil seal while at it. Resurface the flywheel if it needs it.

Also upgrade to STi engine mounts

The clutch has been replaced and adjusted. All is well as far as that goes, but now there is a small exhaust leak where the exhaust header bolts to the heads. This is a single port two bolt flange on a 2.2 N/A , the exhaust gaskets are new, and upon inspection, it looks like the flange is tilted (not seating flush against the head ) I helped my son in law remove the bolts, lower the manifold, and reattach them. It is still leaking. Is this common? Is there a special, thicker gasket? Tightening the bolts does not help, as the leak is on the side. Any ideas?

Thanx
