ok for weeks now i've been trying to figure out why my car is hesitating, jerking when accelerating and not having near the power it should have. I threw the code p0171 i believe, which is system too lean. I know this code can be related to the front o2 sensor and the MAF so the other day i was just checking the top of the airbox for cracks because i heard this could be a culprit, so i unplugged the MAF and took it the airbox out to inspect it. looked fine so i reinstalled it so i could take it for a spin. I did however forget to plug in the MAF.
Now, to my surprise the car ran great with it unplugged. All the power was right there like it should be. No hesitation or jerking. It was responsive and felt like a new car. All it did was idle a little higher, (1,100 rpm).
I plugged it back in and it was back to the old routine. Hesitating and jerking, no balls. Could my MAF be faulty and causing my car to run the way it is? I would really like some input on this. Thanks everyone.
