Check Engine code - P0420

Yesterday while driving my check engine light came on. I just got it checked at vip and it came up as a P0420. I just did some research and found a few things and its looking like it has something to do with the cat converter or o2 sensor. Anyone have an answer for me?

cat efficiency below threshold, check for exhaust leaks at the flanges/o2 sensors or a bad convertor......good luck

yeah it could either be a bad cat or a bad O2 sensor
