CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

MAINIAC XV

The Eco Man
Yesterday on my way home from my office my check engine light came on for the very 1st time on my 01 VDC Outback. This morning I did a routine check on the car, tire pressure & oil level. It`s been 3k since my last change but only 1/3 qt down. My 3 liter 6 cyl with 192K

still pulls as strong as when new. I disconnected the battery and reconnected a few minutes later and the check engine light went out. I took a trip to Lowes & Walmart this morning and it`s still out. Question: Can I assume that the check engine light came on for a minor glitch and forget about it or get it checked out.

when you pulled the battery cable off it reset the ecu.....no more light.....if there is an issue youll have to go through a certain number of drive cycles for the computer to recognize the issue again and pop the light on.....i would simply wait until it comes on again and if you know someone with a hand scanner have them pull the code and well help you from there......you might be even able to see the code now before the light comes on, itll show up on a hand scanner as a "pending" code....let us know

stop by one of the autoZone/advanced auto places and they will read the code for you. and if you post it up here we can probably figure out what it is.

This, autozone/advanced/napa/vip, most of them will pull the codes for you for free.
