so i lowered the suby. which is probly the most satisfying mod as of yet. the handling is superb combined with the sways.

long story short. it was perfect for a couple weeks. now all of a sudden im getting noises.

i put it up in the air, and i know its not the rear swaybar and endlinks like it was one time. ..

i think i may have narrowed it down to the front right corner. .. .although its hard by yourself to turn the wheel and listen under the car at the same time.

what i think is going on, is that the spring is rotating in its perch. its a subtle clunk noise. mostly when turning the wheel at a stop or near stop. or over bumps. there is a slim chance that the front sway could be to blame, and i will look into that as well. ...

i just dont like the idea that i just finished this whole suspension project, and now i gotta take it all back out, and reassemble it.

and everything was going so well too. :coffee:

 
Ok Checklist:

Top hat nuts

center bolt on strut

two bolts from strut to hub

endlinks

check top hat alignment with spring

check hub free play

check pads (brakekleen)

anything else you have taken off lately?

 
Top hat nuts : torqued to specs

center bolt on strut: torqued to specs

two bolts from strut to hub: torqued to specs

endlinks: yet to be checked. first on list

check top hat alignment with spring: not checked yet, biggest suspect, as i didnt check the hole position when i put them on, only found out about that last night.

check hub free play: none

check pads (brakekleen): clean and proper

 
i sure will.. . ..because i will be dancing for joy!

the car FEELS perfect. . .its just a stupid little noise that will DRIVE ME BATTY if i dont finger it out :mblah05:

I messed up the alignment of the top once in my old mazda, and had similar symptoms.

I can be hard to tell if its wrong if the top is only off by a little. Good luck.

New Craftsmen Compressor? AQUIRED

I will be in the garage pulling all 4 struts, mounts, springs, and both swaybars.

hopefully when the smoke clears, my noises will be gone.

Queue easy button "That Was Easy...."

Lubed sway bar bushings, and endlinks.

discovered that the slignment marks on the upper spring cups was off. . . . so fixxed that, put everything back together.

test ride seemed good, no noise, no clunk! (knocking feverishly on wood while saying that)

so. . ..i'm happy :mblah05:
