The car is primarily my wife's and she didn't like the sound.

Not positive of age. I bought it used. I had it on over the winter.

The car ran fine. I don't know exactly what running rich would do, but I am assuming some smoking, bucking, rough idle, etc. None of that.

It is a plastic "MAF tube". I don't know about breakage, but it is excellent now.

I'll go look on Cobb website to see what they call for as far as a part number for 08.

Check the link. The top part shows Forester 04-08, but the part number lists as 04-06.?.?.? I can't tell you that it would fit for sure.
