Saturday, November 3, 2007, 41st running of the Covered Bridge road rally a non-trap, straightforward rally and part of the SCCA National Touring Championship, the NEDiv Championship, and the New England Rally Championship and sponsored by Vermont SportsCar. The rally will use an instruction format that is designed for beginners, yet challenging to experts. The Rally will travel considerable unpaved back roads (50% +/- of the 150 miles), none of which are car breakers. Some of these roads may not be suitable for all vehicles. The speeds are reasonable for the conditions, however, some people not used to driving on unpaved surfaced may consider them to be on the brisk side. Others who have much experience on unpaved surfaces may consider them to be on the slow side. The rally will use both manned and unmanned controls.

Be prepared to run in any weather-sun, rain or snow.

The rally could finish after dark.

Be prepared to run at least 100 miles between fuel stops

Rally Generals will be mailed to the Navigator (unless otherwise requested) for those entries received by 10/26/07)

The Vermont SportsCar Covered Bridge GTA will start at the Trac-Inn, Edgewater Resort after the lunch break of the TSD Rally. It will follow the same course with a simplified time and scoring system. There will also be an observation challenge and a poker challenge added. It is possible for the contestants to enter both the TSD and the GTA. In fairness it will probably be harder for the contestant running both than just the GTA. There will be only a single class in the GTA.

The rally will be headquarter at the Edgewater Resort, Route 30, Lake Bomoseen, VT. There will be a special room rate ($50.00 a night) for the Covered Bridge event weekend (mention SCCA Covered Bridge). The TSD Rally am section will head north to find the covered bridges of Addison and Rutland County, VT. The pm section will explore interesting back roads of western Addison and Rutland County, plus t northwest Washington County, NY. Lunch and awards at the Trac-Inn, Edgewater Resort.

Directions: the Edgewater Resort is located on Route 30 approximately 2 miles north of the Junction of US 7 and Route 30 (2551 Route 30N, Lake Bomoseen, VT 05732; tel 802-468-5251. You must mention SCCA Covered Bridge for the special room rate. keep an eye on http://www.ner.org/schedule.htm#rx for the entry info for this event.
