darkening or "smoking" lights

I was looking at the "black" corner lights, but could only find them in a pair with the headlights

Now, I know its possible to darken your own lights and stuff, but what would I need, where could I get it, and what is the difficulty of such a project? I would want to do My corner lights, front blinker lights, and the sidemarkers.

It looks like on those, the have the exact same lenses as I have and the just painted the inside black ... would that be a better route?

Does Home Depot (or etc...) sell translucent paint? If not, I wonder what the inside surface feels like... I can get translucent vinyl FYI.

I'd be hesitant to stick it on the outside though, as vinyl can chip just as much as paint.

Best bet is to heat gun the lamp's lens off, and rattle can them the desired color, then use silicone sealant to put em back together.
