#55: 2002 Subaru WRX

Makes for a good read. You can pick apart the order as much as you want, but they seemed to have hit all the right points. They did a pretty good job of picking the right MY of each too, for instance if the second or third generation was the one that really set it apart, they made sure to choose that one.

One thing that stuck out: For you E30 fanboys, they chose the E36 to represent the M3. Personally, I agree that the E36 was probably the pinnacle for the M3 as far as being driver-centric, but much of the list was centered around what model started the "revolution" so to speak; so it was somewhat at odds with that.

Anything else stick out to anyone?

"Before the WRX, Subarus were bought by college professors in Maine. The WRX made Subaru cool. It literally and figuratively turbocharged Subaru's image."

How about the Fusion? I know we're only a few years into the Fusion's existence, but I think it's done as much for Ford as the Taurus did in the 90's. It proved Ford can still compete with the Japanese cars, and in many ways, beat them. Better base options, better styling, better reviews, even AWD; STILL not an option on any Camry/Accord/Altima/etc.

I dunno, I would think it would have to make more of an impact then beat out a few car companies while it was still in production just because of package options. Even the saturn in the 90's pulled GM out of bankruptcy in the 90's because is was a reliable and affordable car. The Ford Escort and Taurus spanned two decades, Escort being produced all over the world and having an influence in racing. For the Taurus..... ummm...... being widely used by college campus security and rent-a-cops..... no.... Someone tell me why the taurus was so great again, besides the SHO????

Zing.

47. 1984 Jeep Cherokee: Saved the Jeep brand from the car crusher in the sky. This downsized Cherokee started the compact SUV craze and remains one of the best off-roaders Jeep ever built.
