Hello,
So I found a used Ej25 out of a 05 forester on craigslist that I would like to confirm will be a direct fitment into a 07 2.5i. According to my research they are direct replacements for each other.
A little background on the engine, the owners says the only problem was excessive oil consumption, he says about 1qt every other fill up, so based on mpg and tank size I'm gonna guess its about 1 qt every 600-700 miles. So my plan was to buy the engine and rebuild it, new pistons, rings, bearings, seals, etc.
Now for the questions:
I assume I should get the block honed at the very least. Any good machine shops recommend around bangor? Or just in maine in general?
Any other recommendations for machining I should have done?
Who/where should I be looking for N/A pistons, rods(?),rings. I've found some on ebay but don't think I want to buy such things from there unless I can find a reputable brand.
I'm assume rods are ok to reuse as longs as they look good, or should I replace them as well.?(I'm leaning towards replacement but just curious)
I'm not looking to built this for more power or anything just looking to put a fresh motor into my subie.
Any advice is welcome since this will be my first time building an engine.
Thanks.
