Electronic Turbo for the 2013 WRX?

I am trying to get as much info about the next gen WRX. I found this to be an interesting concept.

Everything about electric turbos in the past have been gimmicky crap that actually ends up being a restriction. Or the blades explode and get ingested by the engine, etc.

So electric turbos fall under the rice category for me, sadly. Hopefully subaru can change that. I'll remain skeptical until I see numbers.

I'm with you on this Chris. The system no longer uses free energy and is converting it too many times, thus losing even more energy. I understand the turbolag portion, but higher end....doubt it can keep up, that and I'm sure the windings on this electric motor wouldnt last very long compared to a traditional turbo.
