OK, I'm cheap.

I have a dirty K&N air filter. I refuse to pay for a recharge kit.

I have a good cleaner for it.

But what kind of oil could I use on it? (think cheap, or already in my garage)

You can get cans of just K&N oil at motorcycle shops for like 6-9 bucks, depending on the size of can. Don't use anything but K&N oil. Anything else might seep through and get into your intake, MAF is equiped, ect.

It's an issue with any car if you overload the filter with oil or use the wrong stuff. K&N oil is very sticky and won't come off if it isn't sprayed on to thick. So yah, it can make a nice car run crappy!
