Hazard switch install

n00b question. I purchased a nice red jdm hazard switch from Redimpreza--good for 3-4hp. Now i need to install it. Before I go prying things off and breaking tabs and whatnot, I figured I would check here as I am sure a few have done this. I know the facia around the shifter removes fairly easy, but do I have to work my way up by removing the screws for the next piece around the radio, or does the top piece that contains the two vents with the hazard in the middle just pop out?

Thanks

Brett

What year is your Sti? The vents should just pop out and then the switch should pop out the back of the vents. If you have an '04 you'll have to remove the cup holder but it gives you something to pry on. I believe that the '05 and up's pop out the same but you have to be more careful. Hope that helps!

Check Nasioc

You need to remove shifter surround

Then radio bezel. 2 screws on the bottom and slowly pry on the sides with a plastic pry tool. alittle on both sides and work your way up.

The vent piece will have 3 screws on the bottom remove and pop out gently the vent housing and unplug the Switch.

I'll most likely be in the garage changing the oil in the Forester & Brokeback. Gotta install the new Fumoto valve on teh Brokeback.

Good stuff Mike, thanks for the help today and for the "mini" garage day--feels good to get the hands dirty. Hope Deb was ok with it....

No problem! Thanks for the tire rotation assistance. I think I finished up around 12:30p after going to the car wash. Momma was cool with it and we ended up heading out to the beach for a while. She did say "What are you installing on my car" though... and the answer to that was a new oil filter.
