Hi Everyone! (would love some advice)

Hey guys, 

So i'm fairly new to the forums! I usually just introduce myself as Dave's (Dsmith's) girlfriend-but I do have a name! Which is Marina, but all friends are welcome to just call me Mari. I've had my (wonderful) forester for four years ( I really really love her) and tomorrow I am seeing her off to a wonderful sounding elderly woman who I think will love her just as much as I do. 

 I wanted to introduce myself but I was also hoping that people would give me some advice too; I'm getting an 02 wrx on thursday( if all goes well). She (yes she is a she) has some rust on the trunk, so I really would like to find a wingless white trunk. I was also told she has some other minor issues and an exhaust leak. I really also would like a slightly bigger scoop and I want an exhaust that purrs nicely but doesn't get me pulled over ( as I have been in Dave's car). I would really like to bring her to WBM and have her looking as pretty as I can by then. With the sale of my car and how much I am buying the wrx for- I will have a little money to work with to get the hopefully all the maintenance done and some of the exterior cosmetic stuff done.

I'm definitely new to the car mod world so any advice would be super appreciated and/or if anyone has any parts that they have to sell that are in good condition and would be good for my car I am also super interested in looking into that too.

I'm also really interested in really getting to know more of the technical and mechanical side of the car as well.. I don't want to just be some chick that is in a wrx and has no idea what i'm running or whatever. I'm definitely new to the car world and my knowledge is very minimal but im super willing to learn and thankfully I have Dave to help me out with a lot of it but I'm all about all the advice and knowledge I can get!

New exhaust, something noisy but not to noisy.

I would say just an axle back for minimal noise.

I think the sti scoop is next size in scoops... Correct me if I'm wrong guys

And axle back is your choice but where are the exhaust leaks? You may need a little more exhaust than just the axle back.

Are you buying the white one traded at prime by chance???

-Gabe (subarude) has a good exhaust for you it's a maddad whisper catback.

-The JDM STI scoop for 02-03 wrxs is the same shape as stock but taller, then there's the full size Sti scoop. I have the JDM scoop and love the way it looks!

yeah matt its the white bugeye at prime. i looked it over the other night, and other then the surface rust on the trunk and a slight vc gasket leak its a pretty nice car!

 
Yeah, it's the one from Prime. I honestly didn't think I would ever buy a bug eye (it's usually just not the style that I like) but I really like it in white for some reason. Not saying anything bad about anyone else who has a bug eye or anything, it was just never my personal preference (until now!! ). I'm excited because I will have a little money to work with to get some or all of the major stuff done to it.

One thing I was wondering was can the wing be taken off and somehow fixed to be wingless or should I save (or rather.. save Dave) the time and would it cost less money to simply buy a different trunk. From what I gathered any other rust that exists will be really easy to get rid of. That and the couple of other things Mike found, are the first things I want to get done to it.

Then, I know I want a bigger scoop--but is there one that I can find that doesn't have the little fin things in it? or can they be taken out?

The "fin things" are black anyway so you really don't see them. But you can get cheaper replicas without them.

Well congrats!!! I remember when that got traded in at Toyota. a lot of people were drooling on it. Good luck with the modding and we hope to see you and Dave at some meets and def WBM!!

 
Absolutely! I definitely will be doing some minor mods and it needs some mechanical work, but for the most part I just want to make it look really clean and nice. I don't want to put in a TON of money into it just because I really want to save as much as I can on a down payment for when I can afford to have a car payment. I really a new hatch in that really awesome charcoal color ( I don't know the actual name of it), so I just want to keep her maintained and make her pretty until I can afford the car I really want!

Metallic charcoal grey. The sexiest wrx color. Wish I could trade my Obsidian Black Pearl for it. Keep saving! and welcome.
 
We just got the car registered and insured! Plates are on and ready to go. Will be ordering a catback exhaust tonight, along with the valve cover gasket kit and o2 sensor. After that we will seafoam and oil change
