Into of Dodge Peon

Well I'll start things off with saying that I currently own and drive a 96 Dodge Neon SOHC. Yes, it's an automatic and yes I know, "What the hell was I thinking". Go ahead and laugh because they all do. I don't mind it at all because I can take the jokes and take the criticism. I chose this particular car because every hates neon's. I wanted to take something everyone hated. Mod it and make it something that people still may not like the make but will like the work and overall look. I couldn't see myself buying a modern car of today such as the EVO or the STI because you cant take pride in something you bought moded from the factory. Yes many people on this forum have made many mods to their STI's and other vehicles and that's what matters and that's what makes the vehicle unique. Saying, "My car is sick" and "I've got this, this, and this in it" when it's all stuff that came from the factory off the dealership lot there is no pride in that at all. I am not trying to knock on anyone who owns either vehicle because over all they are both exceptionally nice and amazing vehicles. Everyone has their own taste and opinions on vehicles and many may not agree with what I've done to my car but respect the work. Unlike others I am more of a show then go person. So to most my car classifies as "RICE". I I have plans to mod the motor and make something out of it. First off would be to swap it over to a 5 speed because there is no sense in doing anything to an automatic of that kind. Nothing ment for a track by any means but more so just a show car that is complete from end to end. Wouldn't mind hearing peoples views and opinions on the vehicle and/or thoughts of what to do next. In proper form though as this is a Subaru forum I am in the process of buying a Legacy for a year round vehicle which I will mod lightly with the help of Nate.

A friend of mine built that car like 10 years ago. swapped a 5 speed then turbo'ed it. built the motor and sold it. he worked with the SRT group while doing it as well.

Welcome, but I am not sure what your motives are in joining.

Welcome! Just what we need, more neons. Haha.

Good luck with your search for a Legacy.

You must be talking about Derrick Farmer with that build I'm assuming. Definitely was a great car but he's moved on to the BMW now I believe. Yes you did see me Saturday. Was nice to meet you too. Thanks for the welcomes guys. Was expecting more criticism. Then again where I made fun of my own car with "PEON" doesn't really leave much more to say does it.

I'm joining the subaru forums because I am buying a subaru for one and what better place to get incite on buying one and potential mods and capabilities then a forum dedicated to the brand. Also Nate is a good friend of mine who I've known for a few years and he has advised me to join up and get to know people. Probably going to attend the meet on the 10th

Welcome! You've joined a good group of people who don't discriminate even if you don't currently own a Subaru yet. There's quite a few members on here that do NOT own Subarus YET.

It's great to have you!

Don't mind her, we will still make fun of you.

I would say to either

1) Drop the OMG heavy rims you have on the car plus the gull wing doors that weigh a ton from the kit to put them on. Your car's accleration would problay go up by atleast a 1/2 sec from 0-60 from doing this.

2) Forget what I said above. Get a Dodge Neon SRT4 and then get the motor that is pretty sturdy and a good bang for the buck car.

3) Kill the last two things I said and ditch the neon idea and either go awd or rear wheel drive so you can have a real car and do nice things with it.

This is coming from a guy that has owned a fwd car and finally gave up on throwing money at the car to have wheel hop and understeer out the window (which never happend by the way).

Sorry to be so blut but I wish someone was with me before I purchesed a brand new $27k car then threw like $15k of money into it just to have it be out ran on the track and road by rear wheel and awd cars. So $40k later I traded the car in and only go $12k out of it. So yea I lost my A$$. I wish someone told me what I am telling you. Stop wasting your money and get a SUBIE!
