jdm ej20tt whats up with this motor?

from the little i've read, and please correct me if im wrong. they are junk. there not the twin turbos like the skylines or the supras or the 300zx. they don't hold THAT much hp and the plumbing on them is just a nightmare.

again just what i've read. i've never seen anyone put one into a GC. it would be kinda cool to have a twin turbo GC though.

they're from the later legacy gt's in japan. it sucks. its just the old school ej20 with two tiny turbos on it. they have a huge drop out in the power band between the two turbos, the drivers side uppipe often is tight to the steering shaft, theres 500 feet of vacuum tubing and pipework to get it to work right, the whole thing is just a nightmare.

theres absolutely no pair of twin turbos that are better than a single on the ej20. its just not worth it.

plus that one doesn't have the ecu, which wouldnt be that easy to find.

well an ej20 goes close to 2500 so if i got that i could get a wrx manifold and uppipe and use that to go single turbo couldn't I?

I would do fmic big injectors, new ecu, vf39 or 43 and some other stuff I wouldnt want the tt just thought it was a good deal.

Evan's got it pretty much. Although, I think the motor was a GT-B Legacy thing. Sti-zy Wagon was looking into putting one of those in his wagon before he went STi RA. They are definitely not worth the hassle. The power numbers aren't that impressive. Considering the factory output of other turbo'd subaru motors. But you would have twin turbo cool points I suppose

Speaking of twin turbo subarus. Any one catch that 3.0 twin turbo Legacy build on Nasioc? (Its an older thread.) Unbelievable. The amount of work that kid but into the motors and set ups for that car. The kids is amazing, although he has postponed its completion... Here's the link to the first page. It is a HUGE thread, but worth the look. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=748513

i wanted to know if its the same block as a ej20 that we have here... i wouldnt keep it stock. i would go single turbo.

the block is almost the same, but the heads and intake manifold are different. you could buy it and pull the manifold and put on a single turbo one, but that's just a waste of money. you'd need to buy that then buy the single turbo manifold as well. you can get just the long block for cheaper, or just get a regular old ej20G. i sold mine for $650 i believe, with manifold, no shipping.

you could just buy my wrx motor when i pull it.

when is it coming out? what do you want for the long block?

theres nothing wrong with them, which is why up until recently leggies still came with them over there. theyre good motors, ppl here just aren't used to them, since the 2nd turbo goes where the steering linkage is on the us models. theyre relatively easy to convert to 1 turbo. subie put them out for 10 yrs or so, and the drop between 3-4k rpm isn't that bad

not that id buy a motor without seeing it in person.

How would the coolant plumbing be effected by removing the other turbo? It has a feed and return on each head I'm sure

stupid question time..

in a RHD car..arethe gear boxes setup the same?

is it:

135

24R Like normal

or:

531

R42 keeping 1 closest to the driver?
