ok well ive been in south carolina for 10 years so my winter driving experince is a distant past. i need to get my wife a really good traction winter tire but that is on the cheap side. she drives a 05 honda pilot fwd. this will be here and my car for the winter the sti will be covered up. she is a horribel driver int he summer let alone when there is snow on the ground. any suggestions on a tire and were ot get them from?

dunlop graspics: are good, but they have a nasty habit of getting delamination bubbles in the sidewalls. dont ask me how i know, but i have gone through 2.5 sets in the past 2 years. . . .

blizzak's: i have never heard anything horrible about them. i think they are a little more costly than the graspic's. from what i hear, people usually speak pretty well about their experiences with them .

Nokian Hakkapeliitta: hail to the king baby. spendy spendy, but they will last you for a long time. i ran them and loved them. i know wannarex has been running a set of my old ones for at least 2 years, and still has lots of life left, and he's up in rangely, where the snow is deep, and often.

Dunlap winter sport M3`s. They are quieter than my summer Re050A`s and steer almost as sharp

magna grips they'll have them stocked at any tire warehouse and they aren't pricey at all i bought a used set off my manager that was prolly about half or less worn used them for one winter in my fwd integra and those things were mint never thought i would be able to drive through the snow with my integra so if half worn magna grips worked great for me you'd prolly love them brand new

I would steer away from the graspics. they WERE great for one season. but after that they quickly degrade performance.

I have Pirelli Winter Carving tires. I don't thing they are still available. but General tire has a similar tire running on Tire rack.

For a non performance fw drive car I recommend Bridgestone Blizzack W60`s. My kids, ha ha, use them on their front drivers and have never gotten stuck. You may say what`s the big deal. The big deal is I never got a call at nite to help get them unstuck and I need my beauty sleep

I have blizzak WS 50s. They were killer but now are too worn for this winter. I got 4 winters out of them and 1 summer before I pulled them. They were used when I got them too! Killer tires, never got stuck. Plenty of traction. very safe. They now make WS60s. I'd recomend them.

All I run on my cars are dunlop graspic DS-2s. I have done so for the past 3 cars I've owned, and 4 winters, never had a problem with them. excellent traction on snow and ice, good dry handling. my entire immediate family pretty much runs them, so that's a total of 11 sets of graspic DS-2s with no issues. we'll see how they do on the rex this winter.

btw, i beat the **** out of my snow tires. ask rob

I used Blizzak's LM22s on mine up till last winter season. I bought some cheaper tires, the Hankook iPikes. There is absolutely no comparison. The Blizzaks were 10x better in the snow compared to my current iPikes. If you can afford to spend a little more, definitely go with Blizzaks hands down.
