ok heres is the story, subaru says you cannot hook up a i pod interface. But im finding that I might be able. Going to need some help to try and figure this out because I know nothing about stereos.

What I found so far....

-Its a kenwood unit

-Either it is or close to the Kenwood Excelon DDX-7015 (I still need to see what the back of the unit looks like)

which means if it is that model, I could hook it up.

-I know it has the same input type in the back for the satellight radio

so hopefully, I could disconnect the satillight radio and replace it with the i-pod interface

or could get real complicated and put a switcher in the back so I can still use both......... but then again i will never pay for satillight radio.

...but the next owner of the rig might. If you're going to be doing all sorts of shenanigans behind the dash, you may wanna consider putting in the switch anyway. Hook it up to a JDM hazard button for bonus points.

subaru understandably doesn't want to encourage owners to monkey around behind the dash

kenwood understandably won't commit to a yes or no answer until you can tell them exactly what unit is in the car.

why is this hard for you to understand? :angel12:

once you can tell kenwood/crutchfield/audio installer what they're dealing with, I bet the answers will become a lot more useful.

Eh, a resounding "I dunno."

First thing, that looks like an instruction insert. While they might be acknowledging that it works, it doesn't help you out on the whole "install" side of things.

See if Shorty can pull up any info on part number SPN0000585 - that's the only part number I see referenced in that thing.

This is really starting to get annoying.....

So I got this email from subaru,

Hello Mr. *********:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

There is no model number for the Navigation Systems in our vehicles. They are designed by Kenwood specifically for our vehicles.

For diagrams, you would need the Technical Service Manuals. You can purchase publications online through our Technical Publications Web site. Once on our home page, http://www.subaru.com, use the 'SUBARU OWNERS' heading to select the 'Technical Information' option. You will then be linked to our online Technical Publications Web site. Instructions are on this Web site on how to subscribe and/or purchase publications.

Thanks for the opportunity to be of assistance. If you need any future assistance, please feel free to contact us again.

Best wishes,

I still cant figure why there is no model number.......

You know, maybe buying a service manual wouldn't be such a bad idea...you can join their site for only one day!
